Such a smooth, relaxing shot. As if it was your first shot of the day, before your other shoe hit the dirt. You had your camera out & ready to shot. Easy, peasy when your prepared. Awesome work.

Location
This photo was taken on the hike up to Upper Yosemite Falls in February.Time
Not certain on the specific time of day, but we had gotten up early to make the 7 hour round trip hike. It wasn't easy with all of our camera gear, and we definitely did not prepare ourselves.Lighting
The sun was high and behind the cliffside behind me, so it naturally left the valley around me in shadow, kind of vignetting the water fall. It was definitely a right place, right time kind of moment.Equipment
This was taken with the Canon 5D mkiii and a Sigma 35mm lens. My favorite lens by far and I use it 90% of the time.Inspiration
It was just such a stunning scene around us. It was cold in February, and the waterfall was turning into snow before it hit the ground.Editing
I was definitely inspired by Ansel Adam's photography going into Yosemite (how could you not be.) I love his contrasty black and whites that he took throughout the park, and thought this was the perfect image to replicate that look with the contrast in light. In my camera bag
My Canon 5D mkiii is the only camera I take stills with. My main lens is the Sigma 35mm, and I have a Canon 50mm and Rokinon 85mm as well. Beyond that, I usually have a tripod and intervalometer just in case I want to do some long exposure or timelapses.Feedback
Yosemite makes it easy to anyone with a camera. The views in every direction are always pretty spectacular. Past that, always challenge yourself to find a new way to shoot a popular location. All these landmarks have been photographed hundreds of thousands of times, but never by you, so try and make it your own some how.
