Flew to the sand dunes to scout out a possible photography location, then...someone was stranded . The sand dune was 50-70 miles from civilization, so I landed to see if they needed help, they didn't, they had help on the way. Nice opportunity to do some photography....as long as I'm on the ground!

Behind The Lens

Location
Armagosa Valley, Nevada.
Time
About 1pm
Lighting
Natural lighting, no flash.
Equipment
Hand Help Camera. No flash.
Inspiration
The dunes are a place I photograph frequently, today I landed because someone was stranded in the sand and I thought they needed help. The starkness of the landscape juxtaposed with the airplane was too good to pass!
Editing
Converted to black and white, adjusted the contrast, removed my footprints.
In my camera bag
Nikon D-810, speed light, with remote trigger.
Feedback
The landscape needs contrast. With the sun high overhead the photos become bland, shoot early or late in the day for the shadows. I did not have a choice about the time of day, since it was sort've a rescue mission.
