She said it was her favorite thing to do now that she can't walk in the woods herself. I brought her back a whole pile of chantarelles and she was in heaven.
Only hours later something happened that would take her life just weeks from now. This is a happy and sad photo to me as it was our last real moment together and I'm so happy I had the camera along. Was the finalist in a Nat Geo photo contest of "People".

Thank you. She was such an inspiration to me. She never didn't have a smile on her face, she always saw the positive in anything.

Great shot. The kind of shot of someone, somewhere, we all wish we had taken, upon reflection. Cherish her memories and remember her with a smile. My condolences Linda...

Thank you, Mick! Yes it was pure luck this evening came about. I was actually walking around the woods taking pictures when I found this massive amounts of chantarelles that she loves so much. I filled my jacket and walked straight home to her. She was watching TV when I got there. She pretty much ran to the kitchen and lined herself up at the kitchen table so she could clean them. I stayed the whole while and we talked and I took some photos. Wish I had done the same with grandpa but I have other nice memories of him and I so I'm ok.

It is a beautiful photo. I always prefer natural photos to those really photo-shopped. It is a lovely moment you shared.

Last year was incredible for picking chanterelles. I still have a whole bag of frozen mushrooms that I haven't used yet. My grandma loved them so much and was so happy I had brought them, even though it was late in the evening. She wanted to clean them right away.
