Location
This photo was taken in my home studio, Sharn is my best friends daughter and she popped into the studio one afternoon for a variety of lighting set ups.Time
n/aLighting
This was shot against a black background, and she was surrounded with black walls and surfaces, one studio light with a soft box positioned on her right, I wanted to retain shadows for some depth.Equipment
Canon 5Dii 24-70. Studio light with diffuser.Inspiration
I am a member of a local photographic society and we often have portrait competions, I was creating a competition entry, I didn't end up submitting this shot as the more I looked at it the more her fist in the foreground of the image bothered me.Editing
From memory I think I just reduced exposure around the edges of the shot, and added contrast. I wanted to keep a few glimpses of her T shirt in , otherwise it would have looked like a floating head.In my camera bag
In the studio my go to lens is my 24-70 but more recently I have experimented with lifestyle shots in the spring and I am enjoying a second hand noisy 70-200 f4 lens.Feedback
Just practice, practice , practice until you get the shot you were aiming for.
