Had heard the lore of the Firefall in Yosemite for a long time. For a few days at the end of February, the light of the setting sun hits the Horsetail Falls at an angle that seems to set it on fire. Two earlier attempts to view this phenomenon ended in disappointments. But this weekend, we took a day trip with some friends on a whim since the forecast said "mostly sunny". We reached site and waited patiently in the freezing cold with 300 other photographers. And our persistence finally paid off ! We had almost given up as it was getting cloudy around sunset again. But all of a sudden the bottom of the falls seem to catch fire and the fire spread upwards gradually and consumed the entire falls. For a few minutes, the Firefall lived up to its name. What a sight it was ! Feel so blessed to witness it. No photograph or video does justice to that sight, but here's a feeble attempt at capture a moment of that spectacle.
