This image was shot at the top of Gornergrat. I waited for 4 hours with some bread to earn the trust of these birds until I had enough "bird-friends" to take the shots.
Btw. they are called "Alpine chough" and are very smart animals so its not easy to train them to act how you want them to.

I take this photo at the top of the Gornergrat in Zermatt, Switzerland. You can even spot the wold famous Matterhorn in the background.Time
I hiked up that mountain at 8 a.m, arrived at 12a.m and worked for 4 more hours to gain the wild birds trust so I could shoot with them. I fed them with bread and some sweet waffles.Lighting
I really wanted to make the sun shine through the birds wing.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 with the 16mm Nikkor Lense.Inspiration
A couple of things inspired me to do it. First of all I saw a old lady feeding some small bird in the town and thought... maybe I can bring it to the next Level. After this I told my coworker about my idea to shoot with these big mountain birds while they're sit in in my hand or something like that. he laughed and told me to stop dreaming... thats when the idea catched me to not bring it to the next level, more like to finish this "bird photography" game. I showed him the Raw file of this Image and he immediately left the room.Editing
I only used Adobe Lightroom for post processing, to bring up that little bit of extra punch. In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D7100 with 16mm and 20-35mm Nikol lense and my Lumix G80 with the 12-60mm kit lens. Some memorycards, batteries, a Gorilla Tripod, some energy bars and if I climb a mountain I have one bottle of beer for the summit :)Feedback
Search for wild birds, bring bread and waffles your camera and plenty of time and try to become a gang member.
