I always dreamed about to take great pictures of a thunderstorm. I haven't the chance just to go out for a hike in great landscapes because I live in a big city (Vienna).
I told myself "some day you'll catch a lightning... just give yourself time and the right moment will come". I reckoned it might take me 20 years or even more to catch a great lightning during a photo tour. One day I wanted to show my partner this wonderful view up there so I decided to take her up to the mount top (pilatus in switzerland). At first I didn't want to bring my camera, because actually I just wanted to relax and to show her the wonderful view and night sky up there. Fortunately I decided to bring my camera nevertheless. When we arrived at the mountain top this amazing thunderstorm surprised us. The storm came closer and closer… all the people started to run down to the cable car station but I immediately prepared my tripod and my camera for the lightning shooting. To be honest it’s totally sick to stay at the mountain peak during such a huge thunderstorm in the alps. But I felt I HAVE TO take this chance whatever it takes to get an unique shot. During this 8 hours long crazy thunderstorm night I was hit by 2 lightnings. Fortunately I survived it without any injuries. That’s the reason why I called this picture IMMORTAL.
