These are the roots of a giant ficus, centuries old, growing in the courtyard of Ex-Conservatorio di S.Anna in Lecce, Italy. I took this photo the day after my father's funeral, wandering in the town old center. I have been living for 25 years away from it, visiting only on holidays, and on that sad day I felt these strong, deep, powerful roots are actually my roots.
