During a hike along the west rim trail yesterday, I happened upon this black-tailed jackrabbit while shooting an inanimate object directly in front of where he was seated. When my eyes locked onto his, my heart nearly stopped. He sat nearly motionless beneath the juniper tree allowing me ample time to focus and appreciate his photogenic personality. When the photo shoot was over, I tiptoed away without any need for him to bolt away. (Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah)
