Location
The photo was taken in the Masai Mara Reserve (Kenya) during a self organized photo safari.Time
Time was around 5.30 am.Lighting
The plan was to shoot the cheetah against the raising sun from a low angle and I took a gamble as too where the cheetah would be headed in order for me to find a perfect spot. The camera was set for dramatic backlight and the cheetah did me a favor by showing up exactly where I wanted it to be.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 500mm lens 4.0 Series II and a bean bag.Inspiration
The light. I was in a perfect spot a little bit below the cheetah and that allowed me to capture it against the raising sun.Editing
Believe or not: No processing at all.In my camera bag
I use three bodies, all of them Canon 5D Mark III, with three different Canon lenses: 70-200 mm 2.8, 300mm 2.8 and a 500mm 4.0. On top of that I carry a Canon lens 24-70 mm 2.8 and a Canon lens 8-14mm Fisheye. A flash, a Benro tripod, a Gimbal head, two pairs of binoculars, two bean bags and enough containers with compressed air to clean all that stuff.Feedback
Patience, patience and more patience.
