The Monarch Butterfly is by far my favourite and I am so sad to hear over and over that their existence is becoming threatened more and more because of humans who are cutting down forests. My goal is to plant Milkweed which they love and to spread that message.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in southern Ontario in one of the parks where I walk the dog.

Time

I don’t recall the exact time of day but it must’ve been between 1.00 and 3.00p.m.

Lighting

I am an amateur photographer as you can see by the way I even left the date on the photo. I heard since then it’s best not to do that. I just love anything nature, be it animals or plants. I loved the contrast of the yellow flowers and the bright orange hues of the Monarch butterfly.

Equipment

I used a Panasonic point and shoot camera. I tend to shake a lot at times and the stability in this camera was really good. I was heartbroken when it finally gave out on me. I did not use anything special but just point and shot the photo. It was pure luck the way it turned out.

Inspiration

I’m notorious for taking in my surroundings every step of the way which is quite tiresome at times. I tend to see the smallest detail along the way. I will try and take pictures from all kinds of angles and of all kinds of things. Once I get a chance mostly when I get home ai go through them and I delete the ones I don’t care for. I find that I learned a lot from my own trial and error just by shooting up a storm.

Editing

I did not.

In my camera bag

I only carry my camera since I mostly take the photos on my walk with the dog witch is a challenge on its own! L.O.L.

Feedback

I learned by practicing that if you want to take a macro photo and the object seems blurry through the lens to take some more distance from the subject and then try and zoom in again. Most often it will be clear then. Something so very simple and something I have been able to tell several of my friends about as well. I can only say to enjoy and shoot away. You’ll be surprised what you see and you’ll feel good to capture moments you love.
