I took this photo in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, Canada at Centennial Beach. The mountain in the background is Mount Baker in Washington State, USA.Time
This photo is shot just before golden hour on a beautiful February afternoon.Lighting
I really liked how the lowering sun made the rugged shape of the mountain stand out. It was a beautiful day with low humidity so the visibility was great without much haze to obscure the mountain. The sun was low so there was a nice cast to the light and not too much light on the water or snow.Equipment
I took this shot with a Nikon d5500 and a 55-300mm lens. It was taken handheld and no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I really like this spot because you are standing in one country looking at another. The massive Mount Baker is always an impressive sight on the horizon especially as it looms over Boundary Bay. I thought the eagle which is an iconic American symbol taking flight in front of an iconic American landmark made for an interesting image.Editing
This photo didn't have much post processing. I adjusted the contrast and brightness.In my camera bag
I normally carry my Nikon d5500, a Nikon telephoto (55-300mm or 18-300mm), and a Tokina wide angle (12-24mm). I also usually have my tripod, a neutral density filter and my wireless remote.Feedback
I really liked this beach for the wide open spaces, the outstanding backdrop and the plentiful wildlife. There are expansive tidal flats here at low tide and that draws all kinds of interesting wildlife to the area. Taken at high tide, the water reflects the sky and the mountain which seemed to make the mountain appear closer. The near golden hour lighting and air quality really helped this shot.
