One day last spring I began a new series of shots of some of the very tiny flowers growing in the ‘grass’ (more weeds than grass - so I won’t call it a lawn…) in my backyard. I simply laid down on the ground and got out my old macro lens and looked for interesting vantage points. This is the second of the series. Keep in mind that these flowers are only a half inch or so in size, and are an inch or two off the ground.

But I am having little problem identifying the exact species of flower (after checking several wildflower guidebooks and a lot of googling)… They do look like they might belong to the violet family, but not sure. So if there are any botanists out there, I’d really appreciate any help you could offer. Thanx.
