Was it a dream, this sunrise visit to Embleton Bay and the infamous "boulders of doom" on Saturday?
It feels like it's been a long time in the making, this trip. I've watched the tidal times, monitored the alignment to sunrise (both location and times) and with everything coming together perfectly, my son Alexander and I made our way down to Northumberland...
Having found our way down to the rocks in the pitch-black, we began to see some colour starting to break through and by the time we were set-up, it was looking as though we might be rewarded with a beautiful sunrise.
You can only control so many things in photography. Whilst planning helps maximise the chance for the shot you have in mind, it's mother nature who chooses whether to gift you with the 'magic' that you've dreamt of....
