This lighthouse overlooks the Chesapeake bay. It was built in 1803 and captured by British forces in the War of 1812. During the Civil War, somehow, it remained undamaged and unextinguished.
It stands at 58 feet tall (18 m), resides inside Fort Monroe and is still in use today.
