The photo was taken in my kitchen on the worktop, I didn't need much space so this was idealTime
I did this in the evening, I often prefer to work in the dark, so I have complete control over the lighting I"m using with no ambient light to creep in!Lighting
For this shot I used a single continuous studio light set off to one side.Equipment
I used a Nikon D810, with a Sigma 105mm macro lens, a 2x teleconvertor and a tripod as I was shooting at 1/50 f 8.5 ISO 1000Inspiration
I've seen other photos where people have used flowers and water drops. I had purchased a Chrysanthemum from the supermarket because I thought it had pretty markings on the petals. I hadn't intended to use it for this, but I was playing with my macro lens and photographing the details of the stamens when I thought it would be fun to add some water drops.Editing
Yes, I use Lightroom for all my post processing, and sometimes Photoshop too - but only Lightroom for this one.In my camera bag
As much as I can carry! These days a Nikon D810, a Sigma 24-70, Sigma 70-200 and Sigma 150 - 600 - I carry those everywhere usually, but also have a Sigma 105mm Macro and a couple of primes that I don't use as often as I should. I also have a Nikon sb-5000 speedlight and a couple of non-brand too for added lighting if needed.Feedback
Any lighting will do for this, you just need a tripod, a good macro lens and a nice plant or flower - it's fun to do and you can achieve some amazing results with very basic kit.
