Location
I took this photo,on a sunny yet rainy day, of my pet cat Finkle while she was looking out into the back garden. She was sitting there looking at many of the birds and bugs which happened to pass by.Time
I took this in the afternoon so the sun was quite high and was not coming directly through the windows.Lighting
It had rained shortly before so there were rain drops on the window which caught the sun and made for some interesting bokeh.Equipment
Nikon D5300. Nikkor 50mm f1.8 No flash No tripodInspiration
As all cats are curious. I wanted to try capture the feeling of perhaps what she was thinking or even daydreaming.Editing
I made some small changes in Lightroom just to enhance the contrast and highlight the greenery just so the viewer could see that outside was lush and green. In my camera bag
I have one bag and it comes everywhere with me. Nikon D5300 Nikkor 30mm f1.8 Nikkor 50mm f1.8 Sigma 17-50mm f.2.8 Sigma 18-300mm f3.5 Sigma 10-20mm HMS Manfrotto tripod travel x2 Nikkor speed flashFeedback
Always consider your background when taking a photo even when the subject is the focus. Your background tells more about the image, the location, time and setting. It can also be used to guide the viewer to the subject. In this image I wanted to highlight the green and fact that my cat was behind glass and was looking out into the world. I could have taken this at another angle but wouldn't have got the background which creates that daydreaming look. Everyone daydreams. Apparently so do cats :)
