Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at a private mansion in Brooklyn, NY, as part of a glamour-photography workshop. I snapped it outdoors by the pool.Time
Probably mid-afrernoon.Lighting
Daylight, with some on-camera fill flash.Equipment
Canon EOS Rebel Digital XTi, Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM, Canon 480 Speedlight flash, 16-bit RGB color, RAW mode. Exposure was ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/200th second shutter.Inspiration
The models were fooling around with each other at poolside. I think they were playing to another photographer at the time, and I was off to the side shooting candid moments.Editing
I color-balanced the RAW file, then applied a subtle skin-smoothing using Portraiture. In my camera bag
Canon EOS digital body, EF L-class 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses, Speedlight flash.Feedback
Learn to balance natural light with a subtle boost of fill flash. Shoot in RAW whenever possible, because you can tweak the bejeesus out of the picture's settings without affecting the original image file. If you've never shot models (clothed or otherwise!), find the closest glamour-photography workshop, sign up for the public shoots, and share your pictures with the models. Above all, be polite, professional, and trustworthy!
