Occasionally dropping the color of a beautiful sunset adds more to the picture than I ever thought possible. This lake is far removed from the beaten path, my wife and I met the rest of my family for a week long camping trip that strengthened bonds, built friendships, and provided great photo opportunities as well.

This is a fantastic shot !
it is far more interesting than just a person sitting on a rock admiring the view.
I believe, dropping the color was a wise choice.
It allows the viewer to not only enjoy admire the landscape, it draws a connection from viewer to subject, who is interacting with and appreciating nature in a physical a personal manner. This makes for a much more immersive and contemplative viewing experience.

I think this is a brilliant photo. Forrest is correct, most people would have some one sitting on a rock. But it is a true artist that can see more. Plus framing a picture is very important, which you did very nicely. Fantastic job
