Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at a place called "Lommelse Sahara" in Belgium.

Time

The photo was taken at 14h11 (August, 27th), so the sun was just over it's highest point.

Lighting

Natural light: bright sunlight, but the sunlight was reflected by the water. I also used a flash (on camera) to open the shadows.

Equipment

Nikon D300s - Nikkor 17-55 mm f:2.8 @ 55mm - f:3.2 - 1/2500 s + SB-600

Inspiration

This is one of the many photos taken where the model was partly in the water.

Editing

I cropped the original photo and converted it to B/W. The contrast was brought up a little.

In my camera bag

Today I carry a Nikon D500 with a 17-55 mm f:2.8 Nikkor zoom + a Tamron 70-200 mm f:2.8. I usually take a Godox AD200 with me (great flash).

Feedback

A good communication with your model about the pictures you want to shoot. I always tell the model that she has the final decision on the poses. If she feels uncomfortable with the pose she can even stop the shoot (never happened to me though ;-) )
