I took this photo at a friend's house in her upstairs living area in San Antonio, TX.Time
It was mid afternoon when I took the photo on a sunny day.Lighting
I used an off camera flash and bounced the flash from behind me.Equipment
At the time I used my Canon EOS REBEL T5i with a 50mm lens and a Yongnuo off camera flash.Inspiration
This photo was taken when I first started photography and was using my kids as practice. I was visiting a friend and decided to do milestone photos as practice. I was very unfamiliar with off camera flash so this was a good opportunity for me to try.Editing
Just a little bit of adjustments in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Now I have my Canon 5D Mark IV with my 70-200mm f/2.8 and Canon 50mm f/1.2 lenses, extra batteries, clamps for any adjustments to clothing, triggers for off camera strobes and some microfiber cloths to clean off any smudges on my lenses. Also, extra memory cards!Feedback
Don't be afraid to try anything different. When I first took this photo I had only used a flash maybe once or twice at home beforehand. I also had my friend (the baby's mother) behind me to get the baby's attention to look in my direction. The baby was placed on a rug in front of a wall. I was lucky the wall was a neutral color. You don't always necessarily need a background stand in order to take photos. This was also shot at the baby's level so I was on my belly when I took this photo.
