This photo was taken in our own backyard. Our new Great Dane puppy Charlie had a period in his life in which he smelled at about anything. On this very day he discovered this Michaelmas daisy and put his nose in the flowers long enough for me to capture this momentTime
The photo was taken at the end of the afternoon, in autumn, and the light was soft and warm.Lighting
Because of the strong contrast (a white Great Dane is in contrast with everything excep with snow) I used the spot metering mode here and made sure to lock the metering before completing the composition. The frontlight did the rest.Equipment
I am a Canon photographer from the start, so I used a Canon camera, 50D and a 70-200 mm L IS 2.8 lense. No tripod, but I sat on the ground and could use my knees as support.Inspiration
The uncomplicated, happy way of exploring the world of this young bundle of wrinkles made me want to record every moment of his journeyEditing
The only post processing I do is conversion from RAW to JPEGIn my camera bag
extra battery, extra memorycard, a macrolense and a medium telelenseFeedback
A lot of patience, a medium telelense so you can stay away a little from the dogs own world, a safe enviremont with little disturbing elements
