Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at a client wedding in the grounds of Middleton Lodge, Richmond.

Time

We ran off to take couple portraits in the afternoon, sometime between canapés and the wedding breakfast.

Lighting

It was actually the lighting that drew me towards this location, as the dense woodland trees parted to make room for this little space, it created an almost unrealistic spotlight effect.

Equipment

Canon 5D MK II and 50mm f/1.4.

Inspiration

The tennis court threw a little bit of an urban feel into the middle of what was actually a very natural woodland setting. The perfect parallel to this Shoreditch couple celebrating their marriage in rural North Yorkshire.

Editing

I applied colour corrections using Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I never leave the house without my Fuji XPro-1. I feel unbalanced if I don't feel the weight of it strapped around me and knocking against my hip bones. I usually have the 18mm f/2 and 35mm f/1.4 on my person. It's a really lightweight and versatile kit for day to day meandering. If I am going out specifically to shoot, as well as the above I will also always pack my Fuji X-T2 and Canon 5D MK II. I love the different characters of both Fuji's and my Canon. I also pack my nifty 50mm f/1.4, vintage 58mm f/1.9 and depending on the project, I may also take along my 45mm TS-E f/2.8.

Feedback

Look out for areas with juxtaposing, graphic colours or elements and interesting light.
