Nice use of a long exposure! I believe this is a long exposure? Really nice how calm the water is!

Location
I took this image over the Docklands in London, it’s my favourite angle to capture these giants.Time
I chose sunset for this one, the idea was to get these buildings back-lit by the sun and create a kind of silhouette reflection in the dock, but this all changed in post productionLighting
This was naturally lit so no additional lighting was usedEquipment
I used a Canon 5dmkiv with a Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens, a Canon circular polariser and a B+W 10 stop filter. Mounted on a manfrotto 055 carbon tripod with a manfrotto 303sph 360 pano headInspiration
I get a lot of inspiration from browsing many photography social media platforms . There’s some great cityscape photography out there! It made want to go a create something of my ownEditing
I generally try and keep post processing to a minimum by using filters to get desired effects like the 10 stop filter I used here to get the movement in the clouds and the polariser for the water. I had to stitch these two images together in photoshop, the first image was of the water and reflection, the second was the buildings and the clouds. I Lifted the shadows to give the buildings more detail and lowered the hi-lights to bring back the detail in the sky and also tweaked the colour balance and split toning to get the colour tone to look rightIn my camera bag
I usually take a Canon 5dmkiv body , three lenses, a Canon 16-35mm wide angle, a Canon 24-70mm mid range and a 70-200mm telephoto to cover most eventualities a range of filters a few spare batteries, cf cards and a remote.Feedback
I always do my homework before setting out! Check the weather, also check what time sunrise or sunset will be as well as the direction. But if you turn up to where you’ve planned to shoot and you got it wrong or the weather decides to turn, go ahead regardless, you’ll probably still get some great results!
