Behind The Lens

Location

I took the image in my back yard.

Time

The image was taken in the morning, on an overcast and cool day.

Lighting

It was an overcast day, thus no harsh lighting or shadows.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3 and Sigma 150mm/2.8 macro lens with vibration reduction on. It was a handheld shot, kneeling on the ground in front of the English Bulldog puppy.

Inspiration

The cuteness of the English Bulldog puppy made me want to share it with the world through my photography. They are such a personable breed of dog.

Editing

Nothing major, such standard adjustment of sharpness and clarity.

In my camera bag

I normally carrry at least two cameras when on a shoot. When doing pet portraits I use. Nikon D3 and D3s, along with Nikkor 85mm/1.8, sigma 150mm/2.8 and Tamron 70-200mm/2.8 lenses. I rarely use a tripod when photographing pets, as there is too much movement.

Feedback

Familiarize yourself with the dog. Play with it to get it comfortable. It also helps to have an assistant to help draw his attention.
