There were famous photographers who used a technique, where instead of increasing their (b/w) photos' contrast, they would decrease their prints' tonal range. The effect was that, instead of making the details less legible, the viewers' doubly concentrated and read more details off the image. Whether you applied it consciously or intuitively, the effect achieved here is similar, and it works quite to the image's advantage. Great job!

Thank you for your feedback. I am not too technical and initially increased the contrast but did not like how the details becoming darker and did not like the end result. I remember the day I took this photograph, it was a bright day with hard light so ended up liking the photo after some modification. I will admit that I have done this intuitively until I was satisfied and happy how the image turned out. I liked how the photo turned out overall after modifying the shadows, whites and blacks.
