Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in an abandon building in the city center of Durban. This place has been used for events and artists to showcase work.

Time

This was actually at around noon. The sun was high up + gave a good window light for this moody portrait

Lighting

I used the window light as the only light source to make a moody portrait. Having no second light makes it an interesting look. Also having her look out the window helps to keep her looking more beautiful & less hard as the harsh directional light can do.

Equipment

I used a 50mm lens

Inspiration

I usually love Photographing people but struggle to create art doing so. This was a rare chance I was able to do so. The broken glass actually is a great little mood changer.

Editing

Yes. This was changed to monochrome & I believe I used curve to edit. Creating a moody vibe

In my camera bag

50mm lens 24-105mm lens DJI drone Sony a7iii Off camera flash Tripod Reflector

Feedback

I would highly recommend making sure your subject remains the focus by focusing on the face and taking many shots to ensure the focus is 100%. Also using rule of thirds is a great way to draw in your viewers.
