Behind The Lens

This picture was taken in the backyard of my home in Ramara, Ontario, Canada. I'm a self taught photographer and every shot is a new experience for me.
This is probably one of my favourite images. I remember waking up at 7.00am, getting ready for the usual sunrise shots. I took with me my camera, a charged spare battery and a microfibre cleaning cloth for the lens. I didn’t use a tripod. The sun rose that day at 7.43am. After 20 minutes the backyard was showered by the beautiful golden light and it made it look magical. I took the shot on January 26, 2017 at 8.05am .
It was only natural lighting from the sun.
This was shot on a Canon PowerShot SX530 HS. No other equipment was involved.
I love taking pictures at the golden hour when all the landscapes look magical being covered with the golden light. In that morning my backyard looked amazing. The snow was golden and pink color and it was very sparkly. So I took the shot to capture this beauty of nature. Later I changed it to B & W image for the contest.
Usually landscape photography requires a lot of processing. In this particular case I edited the photo with Luminar presets and later I changed it with Luminar to B&W for the contest.
In my camera bag
Most of my photographs are taken around my home and I don’t use a tripod. I just take my camera, a spare charged battery, a microfibre cleaner cloth for the lens and go in the backyard to take pictures of sunrise, sunset, birds, animals, flowers, whatever captures my attention in that moment. This photo was shot on a Canon PowerShot SX530 HS. No other equipment was involved.
Landscape photography requires lots of patience, diversity and planning ahead. The weather can affect your photos and you have to try again until you get the image you wanted to. I love taking pictures at dawn and dusk because of the warm, golden light that gives beauty to the landscape. Some clouds like: stratocumulus, stratus, altocumulus, cirrus, cirrostratus, cirrocumulus can give you wonderful sunrise colors on the sky.
