Now this is definitely the male "Cardinal"! We have them in Canada too. They are normally seen with the female mate that is why I thought the other picture you took might be the female one.

I had one at my work today that if I would have had my camera handy I would have loved to have captured it. It was a very bright red and a female had just flown away from my pick up as I went out to go home.
