The Islandic horse is actually pony sized, but always referred to as a horse. Heavy built and hardy these horses have 2 coat layers and are built to survive the harsh conditions. I read that they have been a distinct breed since the 12th century.
My interactions showed most to be friendly to indifferent. The only exception was a mare and her foal that wanted nothing to do with us.
