This is very nice! I love that you did not edit this photo! I am truly tired of overly edited photography!!!!! Nice job.

Thanks so much! I was lucky with this - perfect lighting and subject matter - not much else needed. One of those moments when everything comes together in the most unexpected way! Thanks again!

Love this photo! My first guess is that it is Jesus, and that wouldn’t need any explanation, would it? If that’s not correct, my second gues is that it is a llongboarder catching a final wave in for the day.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo one evening along the Northshore Pipeline - not really certain of what I was seeing. I honestly took a minute to figure it out and once having done so I couldn't wait to actually capture the image. It was surreal!
Time
This was taken in the evening, right after the sun had gone below the horizon which lead to the great coloring, and the ocean itself was helping to produce the misty effect.
Lighting
The lighting, I would describe as having been right near the ending of the 'golden hour', was simply perfect for this view, for the construct of the image, and the 'other wordly' feeling to the whole subject.
Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 60D (hand held) and used a Sigma telepho (100-300mm) lens.
Inspiration
To be honest, I was not looking for this image but I was out trying to catch the sunset. It set and I was just climbing off of a set of rocks that I had set myself up on, turned and saw this - or did I? That was actually my thought - and as there were swells the image of the surfer came in and out of focus as he rode the waves into shore. I had to think about it, which seems rather silly now, but at the time it simply looked like someone out there was 'walking on water'. As I mentioned earlier, the 'other worldly' look to the image is what inspired me as I knew it was going to be one of those mystical looking shots that I will often reflect upon.
Editing
I cropped the shot slightly and darkened the contrast - really, there was very little needing to be done in terms of post-processing.
In my camera bag
Often times, I simply decide that on this day I am going out with my macro and that is all I am shooting, or my kit lens or what have you. Recently it has been my Canon 100-400mm telephoto that is my 'go to lens', but I also do have a wide angle in my bag if I were to carry all the lenses. So I have the 4 lenses in toll.
Feedback
My advice, as always, is never leave home without your camera. You just never know what you will see - and when you see it at those most unexpected moments, it's nice to be able to take the shot rather than lament the 'what could have beens' afterwards.
