Location
This was taken in Kagoshima, Japan.Time
Since this was taken during the blue hour, I used a tripod and decided on my composition before waiting for the correct timing.Lighting
I made sure recce the location before the actual shoot, and also chose a few spots so that I won't be groping around in the dark when the time comes. Also I always plan to arrive at least 30 mins before.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D810, 14-24mm f/2.8, on a Gitzo traveler tripod.Inspiration
This architecture is an art museum located in the premise of a famous Japanese ryokan. Having seen a similar shot, I was confident that I would be able produce something slightly better in terms of lighting conditions.Editing
This was edited to remove leaves and the like floating around in the water. Other basic editing included adjusting for exposure, contrast, vibrance etc.In my camera bag
For travel photography, I usually carry a camera body, an ultra wide angle such as the 14-24mm f/2.8, a prime lens or two such as the 85mm f/1.4 or 35mm f/1.8. I also bring a traveler's tripod such as the Gitzo G1541T which is light and can fit in cabin sized luggages.Feedback
A lot of it is based on achieving the right timing and anticipating the weather. Try to recce your location beforehand, and be there early (preferably at least 30 mins before) to set up so that you have some buffer time in case of any hiccups.
