Behind The Lens

Location

I captured this shot at my wife's folks. Their dog came up and gave me that gorgeous look a dog gives you when they want something.

Time

It was during mid-day when we were all having a good time and I was getting used to the new camera when Norma (the dog) approached me.

Lighting

Know how your equipment works and try to get a good idea of what different environments require. Then you'll have a greater chance in capturing that golden moment.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D800 with a Tamron 2.8 18-70 mm.

Inspiration

I was looking for inspiration and getting used to the new camera. The shot kind of presented itself to me when the dog came walking towards me.

Editing

The photo did very well on its own but I lowered the vibrance and then darkened the background a little more.

In my camera bag

There are so many things thay you would want to bring but you can only carry so much on your back before it starts to get unpractical. I do make sure to bring the Nikon D800, this way I'm always ready for a wide variance. Next to it you will find the Tamron 2.8 18-70mm lens, a Sigma 5.6 150-500mm lens as well as a Nikon 1.8 60mm macro. I try to pack two SB-910 flashes in case conditions demands some extra light. Some spare batteries and charger is always handy and then on the outside of my backpack I have my Manfrotto tripod.

Feedback

Practice! Set up scenarios or sessions where you have full control and just fire away and let your curiosity flow. The more you experiment and learn from this the greater chance you have at capturing amazing photos.
