Location
I took this photo on the frozen lake of Carezza, in South Tyrol (Italy)Time
It was a very cold winter night.Lighting
It was completely dark (night). I was lucky because there is a street nearby and in the 3 hours- exposure time no car passed, because cars would have ruined the photoEquipment
I used a Nikon D800, a Nikon 14-24 mm f/2.8 lens, a Manfrotto tripod and a cable trigger.Inspiration
That night I couldn't get asleep because my father had to undergo a difficult surgery the next day. Because of this fact, I took my car and I went to the Carezza Lake. I have been thinking of this photo for a long time because many people take picture of this lake with his famous green water during the day in summertime, but I wanted to do the opposite.Editing
This picture was post-processed with Adobe Lightroom and assembled with StarStax (540 Exposures of 20 seconds). In my camera bag
I use my Nikon D800 everytime. My favorite lens is the Sigma 24mm f/1.4. I have some primal lenses (21, 35, 50,mm), a Nikon 14-24mm and a Nikon 70-200mm.Feedback
The first thing: you need a clear night to take a picture like this. You have then to be patient, because the exposure-time was 3 hours (540 exposures of 20 seconds, which were then assembled in the post-process). Because it was very cold (-18°C) during the exposition I had to change battery very fast (and have 3 batteries!). Very fast because otherwise the lines of the stars are cut off. You have to wear warm clothes and good insulated shoes. Good luck :) The difficulty to take a picture of this lake by night
