Location
I took this photo near the Indian River just north of Jensen Beach, FL.Time
I spent the morning at the beach awaiting a great sunrise, but a cloudy foggy morning wouldn't allow it. Driving up the Indian River I was struck by the docks and piers the were no longer being used and saw them coupled with the fog. I was mesmerized and glad I had my filters with me.Lighting
The lighting was all natural light. The clouds and fog diffused the light beautifully.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 6D, using a Manfrotto 055 Aluminum tripod and a Canon EF 16-35 f4 lens.Inspiration
I saw the fog coming across the water as peaceful. When taking in this peaceful sense, seeing what was a busy, but no longer functional pier was calming to me.Editing
Other than some dodging and burning, there wasn't much post-processing done.In my camera bag
On a regular day, I carry a Canon 6D with a few lenses (Canon EF f2.8 100mm Macro, Canon f1.4 50mm, Canon EF f4 16-35mm, and a Sigma ART f1.4 35mm). I usually have a Canon 70D along with a Sigma 150-600mm lens in the car.Feedback
I don't have LEE filters yet, but I can see how they would have been so helpful during this shoot. A big and little stopper is imperative as the scene wouldn't be the same without smoothing out the river. Imagination is the key to a shoot like this. I saw it in my head first and then set myself up with the gear and the position to achieve the desired shot. I'm real happy with how it turned out.
