The dam is located on the Autauga Creek. A gentleman by the name of Daniel Pratt constructed five brick buildings on the 40-acre plot located near the water. The construction began in the 1830s and some of the buildings still stand today. The facilities were constructed to build cotton gins, and continued to do so until 2009 under different owners over the years.
