The beautiful & picturesque waters of the Roe Valley Country Park, in the town of Limavady in Northern Ireland are a perfect place for pictures as well as long walks through the woodlands.
In capturing this image I first had to clambered down wet algae rocks (Caution Slippery!!) and make my way over the two foot gap to this rock in the middle of the river. The jagged rocks and slipper surface made it difficult to position the tripod, but I managed to jam the legs in a few small eroded holes to make sure it was stable. I took a few spot meter readings to see what range I was working with before I dialled in the settings on my Canon 6D with the 24-105 F4 IS L.
I wanted this silky water look so I knew I would need to reduce the shutter speed to around 3-6 seconds to get the images I wanted. The initial exposure was 2 seconds @ ISO 100 @ f16, The picture wasn't bad but I just wanted that extra smoothness so I pulled out my polariser filter & ND filter to help reduce the glare on the rocks and also increase the exposure time that I wanted.
Hope you like my image.
