Summer in Hout Bay, South Africa, sees paddlers competing on Tuesday evenings in 6.5m kayaks called surfskis, which are designed for long distance, open ocean paddling. On this occasion the fleet went out to Vulcan Rock, some 4km directly offshore from Hout Bay. In the background of this shot you can see the famous Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the premier scenic routes in Cape Town.
