Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of the sea defence at Caister on Sea in Norfolk, UK

Time

This was taken just before dawn in November

Lighting

Natural light just before dawn

Equipment

This was shot using a Canon 5D and 17-40mm lens f4 30 seconds with a Lee big stopper and tripod

Inspiration

I have wanted to take this photo for a while and got the Lee big stopper for my Birthday and this was the first opportunity after I received it.

Editing

Cropped and straightened in Lightroom with a few level adjustments for highlights / shadows

In my camera bag

I normally have a 70-200mm and a 17-40mm lens in my bag. In the Spring I also carry my 100mm macro lens with lots of damsel and dragon flies around.

Feedback

I was very lucky when I took this shot as I did not know what tide level was best but it turned out to be just about right. This was the first time I had used the big stopper and didn't realise it gave a slight blue cast to the shot but I think it adds to the shot.
