Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken from near the middle of the first bridge crossing the Virgin River when entering the Zion National Park.

Time

It was shot at sunset.

Lighting

Natural light was used but I was worried about the contrasting lighting of the seen.

Equipment

It was shot using a Canon Rebel T4i, Canon 18-135 mm and a MeFOTO Tripod.

Inspiration

Even though individuals I had talked to in our group of photographers said that it can be a great shot, I was astounded by the image I was seeing for the first time in my life!

Editing

Very little post-processing was needed. I did try working a bit on the contrast.

In my camera bag

My camera bag is full. Here goes... now I carry a Canon Rebel T5s and have a Tamron 16-300 mm attached, Canon 10-24 mm, and other supporting hardware. Most of the time if I am not doing portraits I just carry the Rebel with the 16-300 mm lens and work with that combo. Getting older sometimes restricts what a person can carry.

Feedback

Talk to people who know the area and glean information from them. Use your own intuition and view the image as it camera does. When you are looking in the view-finder, evaluate several items, what is going on, when is it going on, where is it going on. Don't forget the rule of thirds and remember sometimes that rule needs to be broken. And by all means, HAVE FUN!!!!!!
