This was one of those rare moments that become indelibly etched in the memory where you take a picture that matches the richness of the experience. After a long day on the water in an open boat we were heading in when we happened upon a large humpback calf and its' resting mother. The pair seemed disinterested and hovered at the edge of visibility; darker smudges in the inky blue. The low sun dipped beneath the clouds and the young whale slowly edged closer. After a few minutes observing from a safe distance, it decided the time was right. The light was perfect, the subject spectacular and the moment a blessing. Sometimes a picture tells a thousand words.
