Location
This was taken in one of my favorite places in the Florida Keys facing Westward. This was taken just outside of Bass Pro Shops in Islamorada. There are some great restaurant and bars where it is always great to stop off for a relaxing meal or drink on the way down to Key West. Once a month there is a full moon festival party by the neighboring establishment which allows you to wine and dine on the beach and enjoy the beautiful views.Time
This was taken late afternoon at sunset.Lighting
The lighting was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't have asked for more. It was taken just before the sun dipped below the horizon.Equipment
I used the Sony A7R with a 16-35mm Zeiss lens and tripod. I used a LEE ND filter for this shot so I could keep the shutter open for an extended period of time and get that flat calm water look.Inspiration
The area is so beautiful, especially at sunset and I loved the way the boats and dock stood out against the colorful sunset.Editing
I usually use Capture One to start any post processing and then move to Photoshop with Nik filters for final touches. Usually I will use the Nik filter Pro Contrast. In my camera bag
Normally I just carry my Sony A7R with 16-35mm Zeiss lens. On this particular day I was carry my full array of lens and filters with my tripod and it definitely made the difference.Feedback
This particular photo taught me how much better the results can be if I am properly prepared.
