Outstanding capture. Looks like a major pyroclastic flow. So happy that it seems to have been orthogonal, and not coming at you!

Location
The photo was taken in Tigapancur village, Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. At the end of the year 2013, in December.Time
This is probably one of my favorite photos. I remember when it was happening volcano disaster in our area. I woke up early in the morning at about 6 a.m. to Tigapancur Village, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It is the best and safest place to observe the volcano phenomenon of Sinabung. Watching of volcanic eruptions is a precious moment of my life. This was taken on December, this was taken on December 31, 2013 at 9:59 AMLighting
I want this image to look detail. Although I didn't use a tripod in my photo shoot. I want with natural light, a storytelling message from this photo can be conveyed just by looking at this image record.Equipment
This was shot on Nikon D3100, with a Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I was looking for a strategic and safe place to watch and perpetuate the mountain moment erupted. It is very important to me, because this precious moment will not be repeated for the second chance. I had my fellow photographer Nicodemus Sembiring along for the trip. We also sometimes camp on a nearby hill and are certainly safe only to see the natural phenomena, volcano erupting.Editing
Usually landscape photographers require a lot of processing. I usually save the results of photos in RAW format files. Then I process in Adobe Lightroom for adjusting saturation, white balance, temperature and so on. For the final process I sometimes use Adobe Photoshop to fix a bit on detail, healing and adjusting the size of the image. In my camera bag
The first thing i always pack my Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 prime. It could take an amazing picture a portrait of human interest in the village with that lens. A pack filter set for landscape. then i packing a Nikon D7100 body, and Nikon D5600 for take cinematic. and then Nikkor 16-80mm f/2.8 as my favorite kit lens and Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8 for my best wide lens. and the last Nikkor 70-300mm. not so heavy and sharp too.Feedback
In Indonesia there are very many locations that can be used as photo objects, especially in photographing natural phenomena such as erupting mountains. There are 127 active volcanoes. Some are active and are erupting. To get good photos from there, prepare your knowledge of a strategic and safe location. Prepare yourself and mentally. Because the weather is also an important factor to note. Although Indonesia has only 2 seasons. (Rain and drought). But sometimes there are storm winds around the mountains in Indonesia. It's a little dangerous. One more thing is patience. Because the result of waiting can always satisfy more than expected.
