An excellent image capturing all of the sparkle and dazzle of fireworks . The smoke and costumed silhouette with its highlighted details add to the moody , post-punk, semi-apocalyptic feel.
It is well timed, exposed and processed.
Congratulations on such a fine and creative image

Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken in Paris, in a special venue called "Le Palais de Tokyo" were fire-artists gather every week to practice their art. Here, Burno the fire-juggler was celebrating his birthday with fireworks attached to his fire props.
Time
Around 10 pm, just before the birthday cake, which of course was also lit on fire…
Lighting
Obviously the light was provided by the fireworks, the trick is to find the right shutter speed. Too fast, the photo appears dark and empty, too slow, everything gets blurry and smoky. So I'm constantly tweaking the shutter. The dynamic range of Nikon's DSLR helps a lot for the post-processing.
Equipment
Nikon D750, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC
Inspiration
These two last years, fire-photography has become kind of my thing, so I try to attend as much fire events as I can. When I saw this photo on my computer, it reminded me Van Gogh's Starry Night so I post processed it accordingly.
Editing
I like to tweak colors. It's a common practice for me set the white balance in a blue cast while I take the picture because it's the complementary color of fire. Then, in the development process I can transform the blue for any color I like. But as this photo reminded me of Van Gogh, I went for a deep blue and a light yellow while the others colors were a lot desaturated.
In my camera bag
My Nikon D750 and Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC are my workhorse. I also use a lot the Tamron 70-200 f.2.8 VC. In the trunk of my car, I always carry my Velbon Carbon Fiber tripod, a Velbon monopod and two lights stands for my Godox speedlights.
Feedback
Using burst mode is the best option to maximize the chances to get a good shot, because those little fireworks don't last more than a minute.
