I took this photo in Georgetown, Washington, D C, on Election Day, 2016, near our local polling station. I was enjoying the Fall decorations on the doors, in the gardens and on the steps of the beautiful Georgetown houses that give visual reference to the history of Washington DC--and bring tourists, photographers and architecture lovers to the streets of Georgetown throughout the year.Time
While our polling station is not a particular busy one, I headed there later in the afternoon than I would normally do because I was multi-tasking: heading to the polls and taking several detours as I created my own "photo safari."Lighting
It was a fall afternoon, with the sunlight casting shadows through the trees and off the wrought iron railings and fences which are found throughout the neighborhood.Equipment
I used my iPhone 6 plus--nothing else!Inspiration
I was particularly interested in shadows and reflections that day and was richly rewarded in a perfect autumn day with the light bouncing off the reds and browns and dappled colors of leaves and pumpkins and flower arrangements creating textured colors and interesting shadows in front of the homes and along the steps that line the streets. On that particular days, the geometry of the shadows from the wrought iron railings was especially prominent and caught my eye.Editing
I used several apps from the App store that have been part of my "iPhone toolbox" since I began exploring iPhone photography through on line courses. While I don't remember exactly which apps I used, I am quite confident that I used Snapseed and Brushstroke to recreate the painted quality of the cityscape that was so prominent that day.In my camera bag
As it is often said, the best camera you have is the one you have with you--and I have my iPhone in my bag at all times.....Feedback
Appreciating every day the amazing photography and talented photographers on ViewBug, I have no advice of my own to provide! I am learning from them!
