Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was shot at an apartment in my city (Samutprakarn) build in very crowd of industrial area for workers that's why there are cages covered windows for safety.

Time

Time is about 14:00pm it's the time that the city is not too crowd to get access into tight place like this that's why I can get a clean shot without obstacle much around me.

Lighting

due it's very tight and tall of structure this make the light falloff from sky gradually decrease from top to bottom sky it quite cloudy at the time this is good for this kind of shot because less harsh shadow and preserve more details.

Equipment

This was shot by Nikon D5200 with Nikkor AF Fisheye 10.5mm F/2.8

Inspiration

My city is not really popular for tourist because it's filled with resident and factory but that why it's unique to compare to the other place so I can show people around about the unseen place that people overlook and think it's just a boring city these building have a charm and characteristic that different from the other places.

Editing

Yes, this was involved with post process. This was shot with fisheye lens so I defish it and make it into black and white. I lifted shadow in software and increase clarity to make the details shown up.

In my camera bag

Normally I take my wide angle lens with me everywhere such as Nikkor 10-24mm and fisheye Nikkor 10.5 mm these are my favorite lenses and I always carry them to me every time once I have a trip. other useful lenses are Nikkor 35mm 1.8 and Nikkor AI 105 2.5 it's useful for low light situation and very compact. For the extra sometime I have my Manfrotto 290 with me and Nikon SB-26 flash for optical slave. These equipment are my basic and everyday set that I need for my photography works.

Feedback

Normally people is overlook the simple and boring house and architecture but you can make it have different mood and feel by using different focal length that's not similar to our eyes (normal lens like 50mm) wide angle can make a strong perspective from ordinary building that usually built in just a simple block shape. This will make boring stuffs around yourself become more attractive by using different perspective that our eyes can't see.
