The Markhal opend his doors on october 1 2014. Its a unique residential and office buiding with an indoor market hall. The building consists of 228 apartments, 4600 square metre retail space, 1600 square metre horeca and an underground parking facility. It's 34 metres high and 42 metres wide. Both sides of the building has the largest glass-cable window construction in Europe.
The inside is decorated with a 11000 square metre artwork (on 4000 panels) by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, named "Hoorn des Overvloeds" (Horn of Plenty) linking to Cornucopia (Latin Myth).
It's called the largest artwork of the world (probably incorrect) and The Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam
