The photo was taken from my home's balcony. I live in a small town in the middle of the Alps and I feel lucky cause I have a really amazing view from there.Time
I woke up as everyday at 6.30am to get to work and I was rather sad cause I though I missed the supermoon, then I looked outside of the window and she was there, ready to disappear behind the mountains.Lighting
It was early morning, and there wasn't much light outside. Since it's never really easy to take images of the moon and of the background at the same time, I thought about taking two different photos and stitching them together. So I first switched off every light in my house then I took the image of the background, by using a long time exposure to get more details about the mountain and the cloud, and right after I took another shot in order to have the right exposure for the moon too.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 700D, a Canon EF 100-400mm lens and with a tripod to keep the image stable during the long exposure.Inspiration
I'm fascinated by night photography and I always try to catch images of the milky way, of the stars in general and of the moon too. It was the first time I tried taking a photo of the supermoon during the early morning, and the result was amazing for me.Editing
Night photography usually needs a lot of post-processing, though with this time I simply had to stitch togeher the two images (the one with the background correctly exposed and the moon overexposed with the image of the moon correctly exposed). In my camera bag
I always bring with me my Canon EF 100-400mm lens and my Samyang 14mm lens. You can never be sure of what you might find and I for sure don't want to miss a shot!Feedback
As I said I was lucky to noticed the supermoon during the early morning, though thanks to this photo I learnt that it's always better to plan your shots. If you want to take images of the supermoon (or of the full moon) first of all be sure to check the rising and setting hour of the moon during that day, then use the day time to find the right place for taking the image. There are plenty of apps that can help you plan the perfect shot.
