This is a really incredible image.

The swirling smoke has an ominous and devilish look about it and, as the title implies, ready to consume whatever is in its path.
The depth and clarity of this vast industrial park is impressive.
Outstanding work !

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken from the "Alsumer Berg" ("Beecker Halde"). It is a former mound in Duisburg, Germany, close to the river Rhein. The view goes to the coking plant Schwelgern.
Time
It was a rainy evening in February, very uncomfortable :-)
Lighting
It was very windy so a long exposure was difficult. I secured the tripod with a weight.
Equipment
The good, old Canon 5D Mark II, Sigma 12-24mm and a tripod.
Inspiration
In the strong wind, the smoke formed wonderful shapes, which were even more abstract by long-time exposure shoots.
Editing
I correct the lightning in Lightroom and use NikSilverEfex 2.
In my camera bag
Normaly equipment: Fujifilm X-T1, XF10-24, Samyang 8mm
Feedback
Industry is everywhere. On windy days you can make the craziest capture with long-time exposures.
