I did the same exact thing to a couple at first. :) I'm so in love with this photo!

Location
The Gamkaskloof, also known as Die Hel, is a narrow, isolated valley about 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) long and a maximum of 600 metres (656 yards) wide. The valley is located in the Swartberg mountain range, which is part of the Garden Route District Municipality, Western Cape Province, South Africa.Time
This is definitely one of my favourite images. It was shot in the late afternoon about 5:30pm. The road into Gamkaskloof is not for the feint hearted at the best of times, taking many hours of slow and careful driving to traverse a relatively short section of road, and this was not ideal driving conditions as it was raining heavily most of the time so we were sliding around all over the road, hence taking even longer than normal to get down into the valley to our accommodation place. Suddenly the rain stopped and the sun burst through the clouds, and I knew I had to ask my husband to stop for me to attempt a few photos.Lighting
I was so lucky to have magical early evening lighting provided for me by nature at its best as we arrived at this most scenic part of the route just before descending all the hairpin bends into the long narrow valley below that was our destination.Equipment
Canon 450d with a Tamron 18-270mm lens. Handheld shot. 20mm, f8, 1/125sInspiration
The scene in front of me was just so awe inspiringly beautiful that I had to stop at the first safe place to take the photoEditing
I did some post processing in Lightroom. Mainly warming the photo up a little as the auto WB I had set on my camera was too cold for the cloudy evening sun. I also pulled the shadows slider to the right to show more of the valley which was underexposed, and the highlights slider to the left because I was shooting straight into the evening sun so the sky was somewhat overexposedIn my camera bag
My handbag/purse that I take everywhere with me, whether shopping or anywhere else, contains my wallet, cellphone, drivers license and my camera with the useful tamron 18-270 zoom lens as well as a soft lens cloth and brush to clean my lens.Feedback
Just get out there, especially when the weather is not great for being out. This is when the best photo opportunities present themselves
